Our Mission
The Rockbridge Civic Media Foundation strengthens local journalism and civic information through grantmaking, partnerships, and philanthropic investment. We support independent reporting and other public-interest media that help our community stay informed, engaged, and connected.
Current Funding Priorities
As a newly established foundation, our initial grantmaking is focused on three areas that reflect both immediate community needs and our long-term vision.
General Foundation Fund
Our most flexible fund. Gifts to the General Fund allow the Foundation to respond to emerging opportunities and direct resources where they can have the greatest impact in strengthening local journalism and civic information.
Rockbridge Local Journalism Fund
During the Foundation's launch phase, this fund will support grants for public-interest journalism produced by The News-Gazette. As the Foundation grows, this fund may also support additional local journalism initiatives consistent with its purpose.
Community News Archive Fund
During the Foundation's launch phase, this fund will support grants to digitize and preserve the archive of The Rockbridge Advocate, helping safeguard an important part of Rockbridge County's journalistic and civic history for future generations.
